Although perhaps mainly known as a dj of reggae 45s, Young Jeff has always been open to a wide range of sounds, and has been a keen crate-digger for original soul and funk tunes, through to house, jungle, dubstep and more. as well as playing regularly in Tokyo, Jeff has played across Japan (Osaka, Okinawa etc) and overseas, including the big soul and reggae weekend festival "Kings and Queens" in Hamburg, Germany.
In the year 2000 in Tokyo, Jeff set up the downbeat imprint PLAY label, releasing CD compilations (with all-exclusive tracks by Fila Brazillia, Depth Charge, Paul St Hilaire, DJ Spooky, Pressure Drop, and more) and artist albums by Susumu Yokota, The Mighty Quark, DJ Spooky vs Twilight Circus and special Japan-only releases of fresh tracks by the legendary Sly and Robbie and France’s Seven Dub.
At Nos Def, Jeff will dig through his record crates to provide a pleasing but deep selection of summer cuts across a range of styles both old and new ...
